The line is confirmed as Can and Tah come to Germany

All eyes will be on Stuttgart tonight as two of Europe's football giants go head-to-head with a place in the Euro 2024 semi-finals at stake.

Young Luis de la Fuente's Spain side have been the pick of the teams in the tournament so far with their combination of defensive tenacity, midfield nous and explosive speed down the wings.

Germany started well but have fallen off the charts and it will be interesting to see if the home team can lift the game in front of the expectant crowd.

Team News

De la Fuente resisted the temptation to leave Pedri out and start Dani Olmo in midfield, naming the same XI that beat Georgia in the last 16.

That means Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal will again carry the threat down the wings and try to provide crosses for striker Alvaro Morata.

Germany make two changes with Jonathan Tah and Emre Can coming into the side. Nico Schlotterbeck and Robert Andrich are men to miss.

Toni Kroos starts in midfield in what could be his last game as a coach as he will retire at the end of the tournament.

What they say

De la Fuente said he is not worried about what Germany is planning, rather he is focused on his team.

He said: “We always think about doing our job. We can't imagine Germany failing to do theirs. We will try to reduce their strengths and exploit their weaknesses. We have similar characteristics. We are absolutely ready to go there and try to win. We feel more responsible and more focused.

“Nothing is free here. What passes will pass because they are a great team. In football, the best team doesn't always win. I don't know if [the winners] We will be one of the favorites to win the title, but we see ourselves as a strong team with the ability to fight for it.

“I wouldn't trade my players for anyone in the world. For me, my players are the best in the world.”

The Germany manager, Julian Nagelsmann, is aware of the threat posed by the wing duo Williams and Lamal but is eager to see how they work in such a big game.

He said: “He is only 16 years old, which means that even our players have a chance to hold their own against him. We'll see how he reacts when things get tough. But don't worry, that doesn't mean we want to sweep him off his feet.

“He has not changed for a long time. His job is to maintain that harmony. He obviously has good qualities, especially in one-v-one situations. And he is only 16 years old! You won't be able to protect him all the time because he has so many things. He is an interesting player and fun to watch in neutrals. However, my focus is not on Yamal, but on Jamal [Musiala].”
