Buy and sell on the clause revealed by Willy Kambwala who is set to leave Man Utd

Manchester United star Erik ten Hag has called him “brilliant” and is close to leaving Old Trafford this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Man Utd transfer news

Although the Red Devils are yet to complete any summer signings so far, it looks like Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Dan Ashworth and Ten Hag are hard at work completing some important business. Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee looks set to be United's next signing, as a move for the Dutchman seems to be getting closer all the time, but other players have been linked with a move in recent days.

Along with Zirkzee, Crystal Palace and England midfielder Eberechi Eze has been named as a prospect for United, following an impressive season at the Eagles which saw him emerge as one of the key players. There is a lot of interest in the 26-year-old from other top Premier League clubs.

The Red Devils are also said to be looking at Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, although the team feels the need to bring in both the Englishman and Zirkzee.

With Luke Shaw and the injury toll still on the rise, another left-back needs to be looked at this summer, with Chelsea ace Ben Chilwell linked with a move to United. His stock has fallen of late, having failed to make England's Euro 2024 squad, but he may feel a move to Old Trafford could give him a new lease of life.

“Brilliant” Man Utd player who is about to leave

Taking it to XRomano said Manchester United defender Willy Kambwala will now join Villarreal on a permanent deal, ending his time at Old Trafford: “Villarreal are closing in on a deal to sign Willy Kambwala from Manchester United! Understand it will be a permanent transfer for around €10m for the 2004 born CB.”

Romano then provided more details on Saturday morning: “€10m package, included. Contract until June 2029. Medical tomorrow (Sunday). Man United have bought the buy-out clause and the sell-on clause. Here it is, confirmed.”

It's a shame to see Kambwala go, but assuming his exit is confirmed soon, he should be remembered for his impressive performances last season, filling in for the full back's injury woes.

Ten Hag is clearly a fan of the £7,500-a-week 19-year-old, too, saying: “[Kambwala] he has been training with us for a long time and is progressing well. The next generation needs to step in and you are doing well. It is a challenge for him to do so. “

The fact that United appear to be happy to let Kambwala go suggests that new signings are coming in at the back, with Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite looking like outstanding options at the moment. A two-out-of-three signing would be nice, though, considering Lisandro Martinez feels like the only good option at the moment.
