Spurs could revive Son by signing the “electric” sensation for £43m

So, there will be no Champions League football at Tottenham next season but that hasn't stopped the Lilywhites from continuing with their plans for the summer window.

Timo Werner is signed, marked and brought in for another campaign on loan but he may not be the only arrival and he may play on the left side.

Spurs are ready to spend and could do so by luring one of LaLiga's fastest talents to north London this summer.

Enough talk, so who?

Spurs are looking to strengthen their forward options

Werner has been signed for another season on loan and Tottenham boast the ability to change that for good.

However, with doubts surrounding Richarlison's future at the club, another wide player could join in the coming months.

Who? However, The Telegraph reported in April that Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams is one player on Spurs' radar.

It is said that the Spaniard will accept approaches from Premier League clubs this summer, one of which could be Ange Postecoglou's men keeping an eye on the attacker.

Having a release clause of £43m, the bank may not be able to afford to sign him.

Why Williams can help revive Heung-min Son

After Harry Kane left London last summer there was always a hole not only in the Spurs team, but Heung-min Son's heart as well.

They had been one of the most dynamic duos in Premier League history and now it was up to Son to be the lone star man.

Did he prosper? However, in stages he did. The South Korean player took the captain's armband and scored 17 goals and ten assists in 2023/24.

These are great numbers but end this word with a cry. Son has scored just two goals in his last nine games as Postecoglou's side failed to secure a place in the Champions League.

So, what can be done about that? It's not really about finding the next Kane for Spurs. Instead, it's about finding the right player profile to create more scoring opportunities for a player of Son's caliber.

Harry Kane of Tottenham

This is where Williams comes into the picture. Able to play on both wings, it was on the left that the 21-year-old starred in 2023/24.

Having scored eight goals for Bilbao, he has been a standout in the side, registering 17 assists in all competitions for his teammates.

To quickly put that number into context, no Spurs player last season provided more than Son and Brennan Johnson's 10 assists each.

So, South Koreans will be getting a better supply line here. Combine that with “electric speed”, as analyst Ben Mattinson described it, and Son's numbers are sure to improve.

Let's compare things closely, shall we?

Well, if the Tottenham captain needs a better pass line Williams will provide it. He erases everything from Johnson and Werner when it comes to creating scoring chances.

Just look at the sheer number of shot-creating actions provided by the Bilbao sensation every 90 minutes. That should be enough to have a drooling Son.

There is no doubt that this target will take Spurs and their star to the next level next season.
