Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic felt Real Madrid's “ice-cold” attitude at key moments proved decisive in tonight's Champions League final.
Dortmund wasted a few chances in the first half and, having survived, Madrid improved after the break and won 2-0 with goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jnr.
Another story of 'what could have been' for Terzic and Dortmund follows their Bundesliga final day woes last season.
The 41-year-old told TNT Sports: “We put on a good show and I think we deserved more than a 2-0 defeat. From the first second, we showed the whole world that we were not just there to play in the final – but to win it. We did a lot of things the right way, but they were cold at the right time, which is what we lacked today.
“It was almost time for us to take the lead. But then the game turned around and Madrid showed why they are the champions of the tournament. We had good chances in the first half, like Madrid in the second, but we didn't take them.”

Terzic set his team up well and Madrid rarely threatened until Carvajal headed in Toni Kroos' left corner in the 74th minute.
He added: “After the game you can always ask the question what you should have done differently. I think we did a lot of things well, but then the set changed the game. We have to learn from that.
“We played well, we were dangerous when we attacked. But we didn't score goals. That's the difference today.”
Terzic is proud of being beaten by Dortmund
Terzic admitted the overall feeling was one of pride, however, with the Yellow Wall rocking Wembley throughout.
“Yes I am [proud],” he said. “That's the first thought. It's a proud moment. We brought almost 100,000 people to London and everyone believed we could win. It was a great journey this year in the Champions League, a great campaign, but to be honest it's empty inside. It was a great opportunity to win it and unfortunately we didn't make it. .”
Dortmund defender Mats Hummel added: “We had a great game. I am very proud of the team for the way we presented ourselves here. We played with courage, with heart, and we played high quality football. We just missed a goal. Real Madrid were a hit, as they have done many times before.”
