NHL Rumors: San Jose Sharks, and Boston Bruins

The San Jose Sharks need to add some leadership

Sheng Peng of NBC Sports Bay Area: The San Jose Sharks need to 'create a good, competitive situation' for top prospect Will Smith and expected first round pick Macklin Celebrini.

The Sharks are in no position and it doesn't make sense to give pending top UFAs a big, long-term deal or give up meaningful assets to trade for someone like Mitch Marner.

If Logan Couture can't play a full season, he'll be thin under center. They could use a veteran center at six. The New York Islanders will be looking to shed some salary and two-year Jean-Gabriel Pageau at $5 million is a possible option.

NHL Rumors: Islanders, Kraken, Kings, Canucks, Maple Leafs, Golden Knights, and Lightning

The shy, goal-scoring defensive player could be on GM Mike Grier's offseason radar. Could Canucks pending UFA Dakota Joshua be an option?

They could use a few more right backs. Dylan DeMelo and Sean Walker could be attractive to them.

The Boston Bruins may be looking at several centers

Jimmy Murphy of Boston Hockey Now: The Boston Bruins have tried to trade center Elias Lindholm before. He is a pending UFA that may reach July 1. Elliotte Friedman said 32 Thoughts: The Podcast that the Vegas Golden Knights' pending UFA center Chandler Stephenson could be another option.

“So I expect them to get into him when he comes to the market. Someone said to me – throw Chandler Stephenson's name in there. I think a lot of people expect Stephenson to be on Boston's radar. People believe that Boston will get a center.

NHL Rumors: Montreal and Calgary Interested in Martin Necas

When the Bruins say they're going to do something, they usually do. And they tend to attract good players to them because they are usually a very well run organization. So I think there's – whether it's Lindholm or Stephenson or somebody we're missing right now. There is certainly a belief that Boston will do something here in the middle as they promised.”
