South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner is returning to the drawing board after parting ways with head coach Mark Kingston on Monday.
Kingston was let go after failing to win the Raleigh Regional after seven seasons in the program. The Gamecocks finished the 2024 campaign with an overall record of 37-25, including a 13-17 mark in the Southeastern Conference.
Although Kingston guided the Gamecocks to two straight NCAA tournament appearances, including a Super Regional appearance, in his final two seasons, the feeling in Columbia for a few years now was that he wasn't the guy to lead the program back as promised.[…]
