Liverpool could lure Willian Pacho to Anfield if they agree to take the player out on loan

Liverpool will enter the summer transfer market in search of a new defender and could land Eintracht Frankfurt's Willian Pacho if they agree to loan the defender to the Bundesliga club.

That's according to BILD, with the German outlet reporting that the Reds are interested in the 22-year-old star but would like to see him improve a bit before bringing him to Anfield in 2025.

The report claims that the Merseyside club are hoping to sign Pacho's deal early this summer before the player's price rises.

The Ecuadorian defender has been in Frankfurt since the summer of 2023 having joined the German club from Royal Antwerp. The centre-back has been a key player for Dino Toppmöller's side this season, making 41 appearances for the Bundesliga club.

The way Pacho played has attracted the attention of several clubs in Europe, but it seems that Liverpool is the one who is determined to leave.

Liverpool will need to sign another defender

If Liverpool go down the route of loaning Pacho back to Frankfurt this season, the Reds will still need to sign another defender this summer.

Joel Matip will leave the Merseyside club this summer when his contract expires, and there are also doubts about Joe Gomez's future according to recent reports.

If both players leave, Liverpool will need to sign another defender to support Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate next season. The signing of Pacho would be a good thing for the Reds but the Premier League club cannot go into the 2024/25 campaign with three top quality defenders.
