A club official appears to admit that Wolves are trying to sign an “interesting” player
At this stage of the season, many expected Wolverhampton Wanderers to be fighting for their Premier League status under Gary O'Neil, but the reality is not. Instead, the Midlands side sit comfortably in mid-table with one eye already on landing an exciting summer target.

Their success can come at a cost, with the likes of Pedro Neto and Rayan Ait-Nouri making headlines in recent months. Reports suggest Arsenal's men are keen to sign the former, who lit up the Premier League when he matched Wolves' impressive form.
Meanwhile, Ait-Nouri has also been linked with a move to Arsenal which could be another problem for O'Neil and his team. The defender has been an unlikely star this season and has earned such links, but that doesn't mean Wolves won't want to do everything they can to land him. That said, it's not just travel stories dominating the headlines for Wolves.
According to recent reports, Wolves are interested in signing Justin Njinmah, who has played for Werder Bremen this season. The right-back, who can play anywhere in the front three, could be a replacement for Neto if needed in the Midlands this summer, but it won't be easy to pull off.
Werder Bremen's head of first team football Clemens Fritz recently spoke about the winger's future in a report exclusively predicting Wolves, who appear to be acknowledging interest in one of their star players, but reinforcing their desire to tie him down to a new deal: “(We will) strengthen negotiations with the player at the right time.
“It is clear to us that we will plan regularly with Justin next season. Actually, he still has a contract. Justin has had a great season so far. It is normal that one club or the other is interested.”
“Interesting” Njinmah can calm Neto's spirit
While Wolves will want to do everything in their power to sign Neto this summer, it may not be enough to curb interest in such a player, but signing Njinmah could help soften that blow. The 23-year-old has shown glimpses of his potential in the Bundesliga, scoring six goals and assisting two more in just 24 appearances in just ten starts.

Furthermore, the Werder Bremen man has received a lot of praise for those numbers, including from Football Talent Scout's Jacek Kulig, who described Njinmah as “one of the most impressive players in the Bundesliga”.
So when the summer transfer window opens, while there will be a battle in talks, Wolves should look towards Njinmah to soften any blow caused by Neto's exit and find a player to fill that gap quickly under O'Neil.
