Chelsea boss Pochettino wants clarity on his position at Stamford Bridge

Mauricio Pochettino admits he does not know if he will be at Chelsea next season and has asked the club to clarify.

The Argentine is coming to the halfway point of his two-year contract at Stamford Bridge with a first 12 months that have featured plenty of highs and lows.

He faced the wrath of fans – most recently after the 5-0 thrashing at Arsenal – but guided the Blues to the EFL Cup final while recent wins over Everton and Tottenham showed signs of improvement in a talented but inexperienced side.

Pochettino has revealed that he is tired of constant speculation about his position and hopes that he will be supported by the boardroom.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's home game against West Ham, he said:[The task] is to prove after all these situations [injuries] that we deserve to be here next season.

“Who will judge me? We need to judge ourselves.

“Enough with these kinds of rumours. If I have one more year left on my contract here, and nobody says anything, let's say I'll be here. [Unless] When we finish the season, someone says 'ciao' to me.

“We don't know yet. I have one more year [on my] agreement. But enough with the stupid rumours. You have to ask the club if they want me to continue or not, don't write nonsense.”

Chelsea did very well to beat Spurs last night, with goals from Trevoh Chalabah and Nicolas Jackson.

And Pochettino is hoping for more of the same at the weekend.

He added: “Now it's about keeping the same mindset on Sunday.

“We will play against a physically strong team. They are having a great season again, competing in Europe.

“For us, we have to bring back the players, we don't have many things to choose from. See [West Ham] they had a whole week to prepare for the game. More dangerous games are coming.”
