“It's going to be bad on July 13,” wrote IBF welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis on social media on Friday. Indeed, on that day the uber-talented Ennis will be stepping into the ring for the first time later this year. The fact that Ennis will be facing off against Cody Crowley at the front of Philly's undercard that night no doubt makes things even more exciting for the 31-0 superstar. “I'm excited to be back home,” Ennis said in a Matchroom Boxing press release, “especially to be the first to fight at the Wells Fargo Center, the largest arena in Philly.”

Needless to say, Ennis is determined to impress. “I can't wait to go out in the open,” he added, “and do a great, great, crushing job in front of my family, friends and fans as I defend and retain my IBF world title in spectacular fashion. I'm ready to stomp on anyone in my way!”

For 22-0 Canadian Crowley, this is the chance of a lifetime. “Ten years ago I came to Las Vegas with the dream of becoming a world champion, without being distracted by the game,” he said. “All that is left for me to do is to prove to the whole world in the City of Brotherly Love, that I am an undefeated champion, my spirit is invincible and I will fight for those who are most afraid to fight.” However, Crowley has made it clear that he is interested in more than just Ennis.

“I will be the greatest of all fathers in the world,” said the challenger, “whom I love and miss so much, my country Canada, and the peace of the world, so that others will not endure the same suffering.” There is nothing anyone can do to break me. There is nothing I am not ready for. This next chapter has been written.”

Matchroom champion Eddie Hearn, who is promoting the fight, was quick to point out that he sees Ennis as the future of American boxing. “I'm very happy that I was able to protect Boots at home,” said Hearn. “Jaron is America's next boxing star, and sports stars with all the tools he has should be in the headlines in their hometown.” Hearn continued to show that he wanted Ennis to continue fighting in Philadelphia.

“This is Jaron's debut in Philadelphia,” he said, “a city that absolutely loves their game, and in Jaron they can boast that their hometown hero is the best in the business. July 13th will be a great night – we can't wait to return to Philadelphia for the first of many historic nights with the Brothers. “
