Today's Live Boxing Results: Canelo Alvarez Vs. Jaime Munguia

Canelo Alvarez fights tonight in defense of his four super middleweight titles against newcomer Jaime Munguia on DAZN PPV, Prime Video, and TNT Sports in the UK at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Boxing News 24 will provide live updates and results below the action.

In the fight for the WBC welterweight title Mario Barrios (29-2, 18 KOs) defeated the speed-handed Fabian Maidana (22-3, 16 KOs) by unanimous decision in 12 rounds. Barrios dropped Maidana in the third round with a right hand. The scores were 116-111, 116-111, and 116-111.

Despite having superior hand speed and arguably better power, Maidana failed to throw enough punches to capitalize on that. Barrios' right eye was closed in the last few rounds, but he was still able to dominate because Maidana didn't throw too much back.

Interim WBC featherweight champion Brandon Figueroa (25-1-1, 19 KOs) stopped the former super bantamweight champion Jesse Magdaleno (29-3, 18 KOs) in the ninth round.

Figueroa, 27, landed a nice left to Magdaleno's body in the ninth round, sending him to the canvas. The referee then counted him out. The stoppage occurred at 2:59 of the ninth.

Magdaleno suffered a cut over his left eye from a clash of heads in the second round. In the fourth, Figueroa hurt the 32-year-old Magdaleno with a low blow that put him down for nearly five minutes. From that point on, Magdaleno looked tired and on the ropes in rounds five through nine.

Figueroa's win was his third straight since losing to Stephen Fulton in 2021.

WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Eimantas Stanionis (15-0, 9 KOs) used his high pressure and youth to defeat the 2016 Olympian Gabriel Maestre (6-1-1, 5 KOs) by 12 round decision. The scores were 119-109, 118-110 and 117-111.

Juniorweight contender Jesus Ramos (21-1, 17 KO's) beat them hard Johan Gonzalez (34-3, 33 KO's), stopping him in the ninth round in a tough contest. Ramos knocked Gonzalez down twice in the fight. The contest was stopped after the second round. The stoppage time was 2:56 of the ninth.

Super welterweight contender Vito Mielnicki (18-1, 12 KOs) defeated Ronald Cruz (19-4-1, 12 KOs) by unanimous decision over ten rounds. The scores were 99-89, 98-90, and 96-92.

Super bantamweight Alan Picasso (28-0-1, 16 KOs) defeated Damien Vasquez (17-4-1, 10 KOs), earning a fifth-round TKO. The stoppage time was 2:11 of the fifth.

Undefeated super middleweight William Scull (22-0, 9 KOs) defeated Sean Hemphill (16-2, 10 KOs) via eight round unanimous decision. Hemphill was down once in the war. The scores were 79-72, 78-73, and 76-75.

Lawrence King (16-1, 13 KOs) defeated Anthony Holloway (7-5-3, 6 KOs), winning a six-round decision. The score was 59-54 x 3.

In another six-round lightweight, Adrian Torres (9-0, 6 KO's) defeated Arsen Poghosyan (3-2-1, 2 KO's) by unanimous decision. The scores were 60-54, 60-54 and 60-54.

Lightweight prospect Julian Bridges (5-0, 2 KOs) defeated Jabin Chollet (9-1, 7 KOs) by unanimous decision over six rounds. The scores were 59-55, 59-55 and 59-55

Star Canelo (60-2-2, 39 KOs) is the guy fans will buy the card to see, with Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) as the token opponent to share the ring with.

Few fans are giving the 27-year-old Nukullukunia much of a chance, and it's obvious why. He has been matched in a certain way to include him in this fight.

The undercard for tonight's Canelo-Munguia fight has several interim champions and second-tier belts defending their titles.

The fans weren't really into this match, and it's clear that the promoters weren't bothering to promote high-profile fights, knowing that the fans would buy the event because of Canelo.

The Canelo-Munguia event starts at 8:00 pm ET / 1:00 am UK. Ringing for the main event begins at approximately 11:00 pm ET / 4:00 am in the UK. The event cost $89.99. If new or returning customers decide to buy PPV on DAZN on an installment or monthly plan, they will get the first month free!
