Jordan Spieth's shot at the 16th on Friday came at a cost.

Jordan Spieth's week didn't go as planned, he went home empty-handed after missing out on the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, his home tournament.

But one fan following Spieth Friday left TPC Craig Ranch with a $20 bill, a signed golf ball from the three-time major winner, a big elbow and an amazing story.

It started when Spieth teed off on the 16th hole Friday at 5 under, one shot from the 36-hole cut.

On the 495-yard par-4, Spieth started his tee shot down the right side of the fairway. But in a more relatable way, Spieth looked to the right, extending his club in the same direction to show the front gallery.

“FORWARD!” he shouted.

“Please be lucky,” he pleaded.

Miraculously, it happened.

The ball landed on the right side of the fairway and kicked dead left, back into the short grass.

How?

“What's wrong with that, Colt?” Golf Channel analyst Johnson Wagner asked on-track reporter Colt Knost.

“That struck the gentleman's forearm, I believe,” answered Knost.

Fortunately for Spieth, his ball bounced off the elbow of a busy spectator sitting down the right side of the fairway. A spectator avoided serious injury, but Spieth's lucky break came with a black, golf ball-sized left elbow.

But like a true Pro, Spieth has gone a little further than the fan's signature glove, especially given how he keeps his chances of making the cut alive.

Before hitting his second shot, Spieth found a fan near the fairway.

“Sorry about that,” said the 13-time PGA Tour winner, handing the man a signed golf ball and a $20 bill. “Beers to me.”

From the looks of it, he'll need those beers all weekend.

Unfortunately for Spieth, the lucky break wasn't enough to get him through the weekend in Nelson. His second hit the green, but it was 60 feet from the flag. His first putt didn't reach within 10 feet and he missed the long save.

That bogey dropped him to four under and he parred the final two holes to miss the weekend by two.
