The injuries continued Brandon Biro out of charge for the Rochester Americans to last year's Eastern Conference Finals. He is currently making a big contribution to this year's push.
When he returned to health, Biro had another solid performance in the regular season by providing 43 points (16 goals, 27 assists) in 59 regular season games for the Amerks and providing a reliable two-way game. And last night, with Rochester down 3-0 and 20 minutes from being eliminated in Game 4 against Syracuse, Biro's goal 19 seconds into the third period sparked a season-saving comeback. Later he helped Joseph CecconiA goal at 10:20, then he did it again with his second goal at 5:12 to go in regulation, tying the game.
Brett Murray puck in a loose puck at 11:46 of overtime for a 4-3 victory over the Amerks, starting a take-all contest Friday in Rochester.
“You work all year for times like that,” Biro told reporters after the win. “You're not out of it until the clock hits zero.”
The Texas Stars know how difficult it will be to shut down the Milwaukee Admirals. Last year, the roles were reversed.
Facing elimination in Game 4 of their final division series in 2023, the Stars fell behind by two goals early but came back to win in double overtime, pushing the series to the limit. The Admirals ended up winning Game 5, but with enough players on both sides, they will know how hard the team can fight when faced with the end of the season.
This time, it is the Stars who are in a position to end the series after capturing the first two games of the Central Division semi-final series at Cedar Park ice. But the rest of the series will be played in Milwaukee, starting with Game 3 on Wednesday.
“They are a good hockey club,” the Stars coach Neil Graham he told the media after last night's 4-1 win in Game 2. “They won this division for a reason. It is important that we keep our foot on the gas.
“We're going to take a little time here, then get back to work and start preparing for Game 3.”
