UX reacts as unlikely hero Joselu guides Real Madrid to the Champions League final

Real Madrid booked their place in this season's Champions League final with a late comeback to beat Bayern Munich 2-1 on Wednesday evening.

Neither side found themselves in the driving seat in the second leg after a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena last week, a tight first half could not separate the sides as the defenses held strong.

Alphonso Davies fired the visitors in front but two late substitutes from Real Madrid substitute Joselu sent the record European champions into June's final against Borussia Dortmund.

Here's how X users reacted to the unbelievable events that took place in Madrid.

Ahead of the biggest game of the season for both sides, the atmosphere was festive at the Santiago Bernabeu as two of Europe's giants prepared to do battle.

A date with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final was still to be held, something the fans were well aware of as they made noise.

Despite the build up, it wasn't quite the first half full of drama and excitement, but there were still some amazing moments.

It was Real Madrid who came close to opening the scoring and taking control in the first half of the cage, with Vinicius Junior hitting the post before Manuel Neuer followed up with a fine save from Rodrygo's follow-up effort.

Against the run of the game, Bayern ended up holding their first game. It was substitute Alphonso Davies, who replaced the injured Serge Gnabry on the left wing, who powered the visitors forward.

The Canadian collected a long ball from Harry Kane before cutting in with his right boot and beating Andriy Lunin in front of the Bayern fans.

However, when Bayern started dreaming of the Wembley arch, Madrid started doing Madrid things.

The hosts began to pile on the pressure on the Bayern goal and it eventually paid dividends, with Neuer inexplicably dispossessing Vinicius Junior's effort, and Joselu following up with a simple tap-in.

The game is open.

However, Madrid did not stop there, not satisfied with the prospect of extra time.

Just three minutes later they took a stunning lead and it was that man Joselu – four goals in 27 games for Stoke City – who proved Madrid's hero at the biggest stage.

The Spaniard touched Antonio Rudiger's cross in the 91st minute and although the goal was initially ruled out, VAR revealed that Joselu was actually slightly offside as Los Blancos booked their place in the showpiece event at Wembley.
