“It was fun. The crowd was electric (on May 3). I know I was happy after the win and the goals. It was really loud. I know the guys appreciate it, but that's what we expect. That's what we want to hear, feel and see inside (Van Andel Arena) that the electric atmosphere and energy (the fans) can bring. “

Defenseman Simon Edvinsson is rejoining the Griffins after fighting for a 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs spot with the Red Wings.

“The honest answer? Of course it still bothers me. How to get close was that feeling. Going out that way was troubling, still thinking about that. That's not what I think about during games here. That is what I will have to focus on during the summer. That's going to be my kind of stuff to work on over the summer. Have that energy to want to be better and want to improve next year's team. But right now, he is focused here on the games and trying to win every game here.”

“Throughout the season, (the Red Wings) gave me feedback and came to my games, but there was no mention of a contract. My season ended and (the Soo Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League) lost in Game 7 of the second round, so obviously the playoffs were the only thing on my mind. When the season ended, that thought popped into my head and the next day I got a call from my agent. I was jumping for joy. I was with the boys and they all congratulated me. It was nice to hang out with the guys I've worked with all season.”

Forward Marco Kasper bounced back after a slow start to his first full season in North America

“I didn't have the start I was trying to have, but I think that's what young players find difficult coming from Europe. The snow is very thin here, everything is still a little fast and physical. I think just trying to watch the video with the coaches, talking to my dad – who helped me along the way – and going into the games. And I'm skating as much as I can, skating the right lanes and playing a fast, physical game.”
