Golf Business News – Under Armor Drive Pro shoes claim 'grand slam' of media awards

The Under Armor Drive Pro Series shoes have won the 'Grand Slam' of major titles for 2024, having won Editor's Choice awards from the world's leading golf publications Mygolfspy.com, Golf Monthly, Today's Golfer and -bunkered.

The only shoe franchise to receive Editor's Choice awards in each category, both the Drive Pro Spiked and Drive Pro SL models received the accolade.

The Drive Pro and Drive Pro SL received Editors' Choice awards from Mygolfspy, with the article calling the Drive Pro an “all-around beast” and the Drive Pro SL “undoubtedly one of the best golf shoes you can buy.”

Bunkered also included Spiked and Spikeless models in its Editors Choice awards, with Gear Editor, and third place finisher at the World Long Drive Championships 2023, James Tait saying the models “helped me generate more power and improve dispersion. “

Golf Monthly, which previously named the Drive Pro SL as its Best Spikeless Shoe of 2024, also included it in its Editors Choice awards saying “If performance is your number one goal in a spikeless golf shoe, look no further.”

Today's Golfer Editors Choice Awards named the Drive Pro a standout model, noting: “The Drive Pro brings golfers stability, traction, and performance with an innovative Swing Support System – all in a sleek and lightweight design.”

In addition to Editors Choice awards, the models were also recently named among the Best Golf Shoes of 2024 by Golf Digest.

Releasing to great acclaim from media, consumers, and retailers alike in early 2024, Under Armor has continuously confirmed the performance benefits of the Drive Pro Series since its launch with live data testing at the PGA Show Demo Day, and across the UK with Drive Pro . The Demo Day program was developed in collaboration with its retail partners and at the new Under Armor Golf Footwear Performance Center at Stoke Park's Biomechaswing lab.

From over 50 testers at the PGA Show Demo Day, the UA was able to consistently demonstrate increases in overall club head speed, ball speed and travel distance. The Drive Pro and Drive Pro SL bring these performance benefits to golfers thanks to the new Swing Support System.

Developed by world-renowned biomechanist JJ Rivet, this revolutionary 3-layer structure supports the natural motion of the golf swing, delivering comfort and traction all at the same time. The Swing Support Strap features upper reinforcement to provide improved 360-degree locking from the ball of the back to the midfoot. The midsole features Under Armour's HOVR foam and Charging Cushioning for extra support that supports and guides the natural movement of the foot during your golf swing.

Jake Haley, Head of Golf Footwear at Under Armour, said: “We are incredibly honored by such a large number of accolades, which we see as a testament to our team's hard work, rigorous testing, and obsession with every little detail of the team. Drive Pros.

“On the layers of each shoe, we asked the question – what is biomechanically correct to guide the foot in the turn? Even the finer details, such as nail placement and angles, where JJ Rivet instructed us to rotate our S3 guide studs by 10° to hit the -the sliding angle we want to resist.. And I can't count how many times we've had to turn the swing support belt on and off until it's just right. We are delighted that our passion for every aspect of the shoe resonates with the media and consumers when they lace up the Drive Pro or Drive Pro Spikeless.”
