Pacers Prepare Massive Contract Offer To Pascal Siakam – Basketball Insiders

The Indiana Pacers are coming off an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals. The team was beaten by the Boston Celtics. However, that should not detract from the impressive season they had. Especially after trading Pascal Siakam this year. The Pacers seem to know that he was a big factor in raising their level in the Eastern Conference. As a result, the organization is preparing a contract offer that will be difficult to refuse this offseason.

“They understand that the high-level contractual commitment you will have with Pascal Siakam,” said Shams Charania. “That is what they are preparing to give him this summer. You want to be there. There is a mutual interest in making a deal.”

Siakam is a great fit for Indiana and forms a strong tandem with All-Star point guard, Tyrese Haliburton.

Indiana Pacers Prepared To Offer Big Contract To Pascal Siakam

Pascal Siakam's impact on the Pacers

Pascal Siakam's game is one that can translate to the schemes of many teams in the league. The Indiana Pacers were no different this past year. The one-time champion averaged 21.3 points, 3.7 assists, 7.8 total rebounds per game, and an effective field goal percentage of 57.9 percent for the Pacers after being traded to the Toronto Raptors this past season. For his career, Siakam averaged 17.7 points, 6.6 total rebounds, 3.6 assists per game, and an effective field goal percentage of 53.3 percent.

Some NBA peers have questioned whether the two-time All-Star will be able to reunite with Tyrese Haliburton in the event of a trade. However, those doubts were quickly dispelled. Haliburton led the league in assists per game this year (10.9) and Siakam formed a strong frontcourt alongside Myles Turner. If the Indiana Pacers can keep Siakam and the youth that has been a revelation this season, the future is very bright for this organization.

Can the Pacers Make Another Deep Playoff Push?

While there was some luck in Indiana's run to the Eastern Conference finals, one has to be wary of what the future holds for them given the young talent on the roster. Tyrese Haliburton seems to be getting into his addiction. Not to mention that players like Andrew Nembhard and Benedict Mathurin will improve with experience. It's fair to say that the Pacers have been very successful this season. If the team can't shut down Pascal Siakam long term, then who knows what could happen with a full season for the Haliburton-Siakam duo. Considering all of this, the Indiana Pacers should do everything in their power to bring back the former Most Improved Player of the Year.
