51 professional golfers use a Titleist driver – including four of the top 10 in the world

Some of the best players in the world love Titleist clubs, but it might surprise you how many top players use a Titleist driver.

More than 50 active players on the professional tour use a driver variant from the manufacturer.

Titleist currently sells four drivers, many of which fall under the TSR brand umbrella, but they still market the flagship TSis and have one technician who still uses the TS3.

Surprisingly, Patrick Cantlay returned to TS3 as recently as January 2024, Titleist made a variety of head options available to its professional staff.

However, the most popular head on tour is the TSR3. Designed for players who play a consistent impact pattern in the center of the face.

As a result, the face features a special pattern of variable thickness that emphasizes the best performance of medium claims.

Unsurprisingly for a professional driver, the TSR3 has a more compact size, but it also adds a floating weight that allows players to move the center of gravity a bit more. While this helps somewhat with painting or popular blurring, it's mainly designed to incorporate CG where the player makes impact with the ball.

The result is a better power transfer although not all players produce the same results from that power transfer.

“[When] I switched to the TSR3, it had a touch more ball speed and turned me a little bit, which was huge,” said Wyndham Clark. “Then I was able to keep it straight. Sometimes I remove it too much with a fade. And then … we did some coverage and, honestly, that was one of the big keys. “

TSR4 has yet to meet tour players, although South African up-and-comer Garrick Higgo and South Korean Byeong Hun An have welcomed the team.

With TSR4 gameplay has been improved from previous versions by changing the face shape.

Its variable stiffness pattern reverts to the TSR2, resulting in more forgiveness on off-center hits.

Although low spin is its hallmark, the only weights (one heavy, one light) can be rotated to dial in the ideal spin reduction for each golfer.

The TSR2 remains popular as the most forgiving and accommodating shape in the range.

It features a larger face area and most importantly a unique face stiffness pattern that emphasizes performance on mis-hits.

That's also enhanced by a larger footprint that makes the head more stable in the TSR line.

Smooth outer lines and curves make the big shape go through the air smoother so players can generate more clubhead speed.

Ludwig Aberg and Jordan Spieth are notable pros who use the TSR2.
