Starting June 1 from the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Filip Hrgovic will compete in the heavyweight division against former title contender Daniel Dubois.
This one was scheduled to appear as part of the undercard in the undisputed light heavyweight fight between undefeated champions Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev. The fight was postponed after Beterbiev was injured, and Bivol will now face Malik Zinad's replacement.
With a change of opponent, the heavyweight rivalry between Deontay Wilder and Big Bang Zhang has been elevated to the main event, and the heavyweight rivalry between Hrgovic and Dubois is still on! With the undisputed heavyweight fight between Tyson Fury and Usyk scheduled for May 18 (just a few weeks before Hrgovic vs Dubois) and the expected rematch between Fury and Usyk to follow later this year, that means whatever happens with Fury vs Usyk, the reigning The belt after the first fight is expected to be stripped by the IBF.
Each of these heavyweights was last seen playing back in December last year on Boxing Day or the Reckoning card. Hrgovic won with a knockout over Mark De Mori, and Dubois scored a tenth round stoppage against Jarrell Miller.
