England have predicted that they will face Bosnia and Herzegovina

Manager Gareth Southgate is likely to give a number of young players a chance to impress when England take on Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday night.

The Three Lions boss announced a preliminary 33-man squad for Euro 2024 last week and, with his selection of a few who are not often knocking around or – in Jude Bellingham's case – playing in the Champions League final at the weekend, a testy squad could be. planted in St James' Park.

With a number of places in Germany's starting XI up for grabs, here is the squad Southgate could line up for England's first warm-up game.

GK: Jordan Pickford – Although other positions are still sought after, Everton's Pickford has been England's first-choice goalkeeper since 2017, making 60 appearances in total.

RB: Kyle Walker – Manchester City's cheat code captained his side in the Premier League title race and could start on Monday night, although he is likely to withdraw early.

CB: John Stones – With Harry Maguire not ready to feature, Stones should start at center back to provide another experienced head of defense alongside Walker.

CB: Marc Guehi – One of four Crystal Palace stars named in the first team, Guehi is closing in on double figures in England appearances. Lewis Dunk, Ezri Konsa, Jarrad Branthwaite and Jarell Quansah are all alternatives.

LB: Kieran Trippier – This is a position that Trippier could fill for much of the summer, with Luke Shaw facing a remarkable race to recover from injury in time for Euro 2024.

CM: Adam Wharton – The 20-year-old Palace midfielder has made a great start to life in the Premier League and could continue his rise with a first international appearance.

CM: Declan Rice – The former West Ham United captain enjoyed a blistering first campaign with Arsenal. His national team hopes this summer could continue with Rice's performance.

RW: Cole Palmer – Chelsea's rising star featured heavily in a central role at Stamford Bridge but could be blocked down the right.

AM: Conor Gallagher – Gallagher's midfield strength could be a big factor for the Three Lions in the summer, with the midfield position alongside Rice and Bellingham vulnerable. Trent Alexander-Arnold, James Maddison, Kobbie Mainoo and Curtis Jones will all want to feature, too.

LW: Eberechi Eze – Perhaps the most in-form player to land Southgate following an impressive end to the season at Selhurst Park, Eze should get the chance to prove he deserves a place in the final 26-man squad for Euro 2024.

ST: Ollie Watkins – With Harry Kane ending his first season with Bayern Munich with a back problem, the stage is set for Watkins or Ivan Toney to stake his claim as his apprentice. The Aston Villa striker is likely to get the nod to start for him.
