Jose Mourinho returns to management with Fenerbahce

Jose Mourinho is set for an immediate return to management with Fenerbahce, according to reports in Italy.

The former Chelsea, Man United and Tottenham manager was sacked by Roma in January after struggling to replicate the form that saw him finish in the top six in Serie A in his first two seasons at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 61-year-old guided Roma to the 2022 UEFA Europa Conference League title but lost the 2023 Europa League final on penalties against Sevilla.

Ismail Kartal lost just one of 38 Turkish Super Lig games in charge of Fener this season and amassed 99 points, but finished in second place, three points behind bitter rivals Galatasaray, the club's third consecutive season in second place.

Kartal's one-year contract for a third spell in charge of the Yellow Canaries in Istanbul is not expected to be renewed.
