LPGA Tour veteran Brittany Lincicome posted her lowest round in years at the ShopRite LPGA Classic on Friday thanks in large part to the addition of a new putter.

“It looks like one of those easy days where I can't do anything wrong,” Lincicome said after firing an opening round of six-under 65. “I changed putters and today was my first day, the day of the tournament. Every 50 feet feels like two feet. Every putt was going in. Even if the 20 feet to save the price would fit.

“It was one of those really easy days, so we'll see how tomorrow goes,” he continued. “Hopefully with the new putter and the good vibes of the golf course that I've played so well in the past, hopefully we can keep it going.”

The magic putter Lincicome refers to is the Odyssey Jailbird, which has straight lines on the clubhead and promises a very consistent ball speed, even on off-center hits, leaving putts closer to the hole.

“I'm glad I changed,” he said. “Maybe one of those things where you needed a change, and that's what I needed to get over the hump of not playing well. I feel like I've been very close the past few weeks. Right on the bubble, she missed the cut by one week at most. So it was nice to get out there and get a round under the section. Hopefully we'll continue to see what we can do in the next two days.”

Lincicome's 65 at Seaview's Bay Course in Galloway, NJ, was his lowest tournament round since the 2021 Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational, where he posted two rounds of 64 (six under par -70) en route to a 10th place finish.

The 38-year-old mother of two is currently in the midst of her 20th season as a professional. He won eight medals in his career, including two major championships. But in recent years, entering the fray has proved more difficult. Lincicome has missed the title five times in seven tournaments this year, with a T30 at the Chevron Championship his only best. But days like Friday — and riding a wave of hot putters — give him renewed energy to keep pushing.

“Obviously I'm getting close to retirement, and I feel like I still have it,” she said. “I still feel like I'm that 19-year-old kid who went out on tour 20 years ago now. I can't believe I'm saying that. It's great to be here and play the game I love and have a great day. This is amazing.”
