Between the sticks is an interesting area, as reports suggest that Maresca is a big fan of current Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and can't wait to work with him.

However, that hasn't stopped Maresca from looking for a new goalkeeper for Chelsea, as he looks to strengthen the department with new quality additions. Reportedly a fan of Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, the pair worked together last season and helped secure the Foxes' automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Interestingly, Chelsea may now be looking to bring back one of their former players as a goalkeeper option – in OGC stopper Marcin Bulka.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a fine season in France last campaign, starting 34 games as the undisputed number one, and this has alerted Stamford Bridge chiefs to a free transfer in 2019.

Chelsea are now considering re-signing Bulka from Nice

According to L'Equipe newspaper, Chelsea are interested in re-signing Bulka to strengthen Maresca's goalkeeper options. He has the most points combined as a transfer target, and has been under a lot of praise for his form in 2023/2024.

“He impressed me in Nice. I have been training with him every day and I think he will soon play for a top European team. He is the strongest goalkeeper I have ever seen,” said Algerian striker Andy Delort, who played with Bulka in Nice.

Meanwhile, the Pole's manager at club level last season, Franceso Farioli, called Bulka a “determined player” and a “hard worker” – explaining his decision to drop him for Kasper Schmeichel during the campaign.

“We had the talent of Marcin, but also the experience and quality of Kasper. We have the staff, we thought about what we would gain and lose with each option. We chose Marcin for his enthusiasm, his willingness to learn and his energy. He has shown good things and I hope it will continue,” Farioli said.

“In the space of four months, he has gone from a brilliant substitute to one of the most sought-after goalkeepers in international football. He knows the level at which he should live. He is an active, hardworking and headstrong boy. He knows he has to keep working with his hunger, him and his team.”
