Harry Kane has warned his England team-mates ahead of Euro 2024

The captain of England, Harry Kane, has issued a warning to his teammates following the defeat by Iceland on Friday night at Wembley.

Gareth Southgate's men are one of the favorites for Euro 2024 but were kicked out following a 1-0 defeat in their final warm-up game for the tournament.

The Three Lions head to Germany with one of their most talented squads in recent times and are well on their way to ending their 58-year wait for a trophy.

Kane sends a warning to his England team-mates

England will be looking to improve after losing the Euro 2020 final on penalties to Italy, but it feels like they are heading to Germany a bit underprepared.

Southgate's side face Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia in the group stage, and Kane, who scored 36 Bundesliga goals in his first season at Bayern Munich, feels there is still room for improvement ahead of their opener on Sunday.

“There will definitely be a buzz about it [losing to Iceland] but I think there is a lot of hope from the fans and rightly so,” said Kane in quotes taken by BBC Sport.

Kane believes Iceland's defeat will act as a wake-up call for everyone.

“This would be a good wake-up call for everyone to realize that it won't be as easy as people think, there's a lot of work to be done.”

“There are areas that we need to improve, especially with our pressure.

“The group games will be very similar to this one, we will have to defend well, especially long balls, and with football we need to be patient, looking back.”

Kane also emphasized that the belief within the team is as strong as it has ever been and that he is excited about another big competition.

“I'm excited for another great tournament,” he added.

“I have said many times that I still judge by the form of the tournament, in the football of the tournament.

“Ultimately, it's up to us to make sure that we prepare the field properly, we have many good players, players who had really good seasons, you can't ignore that.

'Having come so close at the last Euros (beaten in the final), there is a hunger to come back, it comes quickly, to be honest.

“We had the World Cup and coming back here again, I feel like we're on the right track.”

“We have that feeling that we can reach it and we know that there is a lot of hard work from now until the final game in July.”
