With Michael Edwards looking to make a statement on his return to Liverpool, the Reds are reportedly keen on signing the £60m star who has already shown Anfield exactly what he can do.

Liverpool transfer news

It could be a busy summer for Liverpool, who are moving from nine years under Jurgen Klopp into the Arne Slot era. The Dutchman comes with big shoes to fill, but reports suggest he will have more than enough support in the transfer market to get off to a flying start.

The likes of Yankuba Minteh, Ederson and Teun Koopmeiners have all been linked with a summer move, in a move that will see all three reunite with Slot, having previously played under the new Liverpool manager. Ederson and Koopmeiners could be the most interesting arrivals as Liverpool overhauled their midfield last summer. It looks like it needs the finishing touch, however, and the Reds could raid Atalanta in the coming months.

Netherlands midfielder Teun Koopmeiners

It's not just the defensive side of their midfield that the Premier League giants are reportedly looking to strengthen, however, with one star now being targeted by those on Merseyside. According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Liverpool are eyeing a move to sign Eberechi Eze, who has a £60m release clause and will not leave Crystal Palace for anything less this summer.

The attacking midfielder has recently had his way confirmed by Gareth Southgate, who has selected the Palace star in his final Euro 2024 England squad, while leaving out the likes of James Maddison and Jack Grealish.

Liverpool, of course, know all about Eze's quality after scoring the winner in Crystal Palace's 1-0 win at Anfield last season. The Englishman finished the afternoon with three excellent assists, 11 goals and a huge chance created near his own goal, which is very good.

“Beautiful” Eze complete Slot's 4-2-3-1 system

While it would be difficult to find a clear role to suit Eze's strengths in Klopp's 4-3-3 formation at Liverpool, Slot's 4-2-3-1 is perfect for a player of such caliber. The attacking midfielder will sit at the center of the forward quartet to pull the strings and unleash the best work of Mohamed Salah.

Adding to the glamor that Liverpool may not have without Luis Diaz, Eze is the man the Reds should do everything in their power to sign this summer to give Slot the best possible start to life at Anfield.

England manager Southgate is among those who have given Eze high praise of late, saying via talkSPORT: “It was great to see Eze come in and play that song he has at Palace.

“He has a few fields with us now and it's nice to see him integrate with the team and feel comfortable in the shirt. We've seen some good runs where he can get people out of the middle of the field with the power he has.”
