Tyson's new fight date, Ryan Garcia's problems continue with new signings

BOX moves fast and it's hard to keep up with everything that's happening. Here's a rundown of some of the fight announcements, signings and other bits that may have passed you by.

King Ry falls further from the throne

As if failing two drug tests wasn't enough for Ryan Garcia. This unusual star has been arrested for causing damage to a hotel. Still struggling with drug problems after shocking the world by defeating Devin Haney in April, Ryan was devastated when he revealed that his mother, Lisa Garcia, had been diagnosed with breast cancer in early May.

Garcia's story is eerily similar to that of his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, although Ryan's decline is in a two-speed zone. Garcia also complained that he was not paid for beating Haney. Oscar vehemently responded to the claim and the post was later removed.

Hot spot Hackett connected with Hearn

Matchroom continues to do things in America by snapping up Jalil Major Hackett. This comes after Jaron Ennis has been linked with promotional material as the PBC roster continues to dwindle.

Hackett, 21, was a talented rookie and has already made strides as a pro, amassing an 8-0 record (7 KOs). Hearn described his new signing as “an amazing young talent.” Hackett will fight Peter Dobson for 'Boots' Ennis on July 13 in Philadelphia.

Mosley Jr returns to take on former champion Jacobs

Former world middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs will end his two-and-a-half-year ring streak against Shane Mosley Jr. on July 6. It's hard to believe that Jacobs' loss in London to John Ryder has been a long time coming. The split decision loss sent Jacobs into semi-retirement while he prepared for Ryder's eventual shot at Canelo and Jaime Munguia.

The Anaheim 10-rounder against Mosley Jr will be promoted by Jorge Masvidal. Mosley Jr is on a four-fight winning streak since losing to Jason Quigley in 2021. The fight will be held at super-middleweight.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson heavyweight gets a new day

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are going to fight on November 15. The two were supposed to meet in Texas on July 20, but Tyson got sick on the plane, and the date was closed.

The highly anticipated rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano has been moved to a new date and main event.

The top position remains busy with three new signings

After the capture of Argentine punter Gustavo Lemos, Top Rank announced three more new signings in a few days.

Super-welterweight contender Vito Mielnicki Jr, who fought in Canelo vs. Munguia undercard in May, connected with Bob Arum. 'White Magic' bounced back from his only career loss to cement his WBA top five ranking.

“I am happy to continue to grow and blossom as a champion. “I'm looking forward to staying active and continuing to build on the foundation I've created in the early years of my career,” said Mielnicki (18-1, 12 KOs).

Joining Melnicki under the TR wing is a welterweight prospect Art Barrera Jr (5-0, 4 KOs). Training with veteran trainer Robert Garcia, the 18-year-old Californian boxes on the July 13 undercard when Janibek Alimkhanuly defends two titles against Andrei Mikhailovich in Las Vegas.

“Art Barrera Jr is one of the best young prospects I've been around recently,” said Robert Garcia.

Time tracking with PBC, super-lightweight Elvis Rodriguez returned to Top Rank with a long-term promotional deal.

Rodriguez will fight a 10-rounder on Saturday, June 29, on the Teofimo Lopez-Steve Claggett undercard in Florida.

“Top Rank made me a star, and they will make me a champion. Elvis is finally coming back to the building!” joked Rodriguez (15-1-1, 13 KOs), who is coached by Freddie Roach.
