Man Utd are in contact with Barcelona over a shock loan deal for strikers

Manchester United have contacted the agent of young Barcelona striker Vitor Roque over a loan deal, according to a Spanish report.

Roque completed his €61 million move to Barcelona in January but the 19-year-old has struggled for game time, seeing just 310 minutes with 13 appearances in all competitions.

Amidst allegations that Barcelona do not believe Roque is good enough to play for the team at the moment, Mundo Deportivo reports that a number of clubs are in contact with the Brazilian team regarding a possible loan.

United are said to be keen on bringing the 19-year-old to the Premier League, with Napoli, Lyon, Nice, Sevilla and Real Betis all said to be interested in Roque.

Barcelona manager Xavi has previously backed Roque but has recently left the door open for a loan move this summer.

“We haven't decided anything yet,” said Xavi. “We will decide at the end of the season what is best for everyone. It is not easy to come from Brazil. You need time and practice. At the end of the season, we will decide.”
