Russell Westbrook Responds to Clippers Rumors

Russell Westbrook has personally responded to rumors that he wants to leave the Clippers and find a more important role on another team.

After the Clippers were eliminated in the first round at the hands of the Mavericks, Athletic reported the challenges that came with Russ being “relegated to a backup role” was a more difficult process “behind the scenes than team officials let on publicly”.

Therefore, the outlet concluded that he might want to take a better chance “elsewhere”.

Russ directed reports like this directly to his Instagram page.

In his opening statement, Westbrook said, “Understand that anything you read about what I said or didn't say may have been made up.

The nine-year veteran All-Star made it sound like he was happy where he was and ended the statement by saying, “I enjoyed my year, and I worked hard to bring energy, and spark to each of our teams. the opportunity was given to me. I felt that I was and still am very willing to take on new roles, and make some sacrifices in the hope that it will make our team better. I was hoping for a different result, but I also enjoyed being in the trenches with my teammates this year, who have all supported me throughout the season. I hope to come back better, stronger, and always eager to take on any role that continues to put us in a good position to win next season!”

Westbrook has a player option in his contract, so he could become a free agent as soon as this summer.

Although for now, it seems that Westbrook is not going anywhere.

Whether he will still play with fellow All-Star veterans like Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will be another matter.
