If there's one thing we know about Bryson DeChambeau, it's that the quirky LIV golfer is willing to try almost anything to improve his game.

Using single-length irons, he tried stacking and was one of the first to adopt the flagstick.

“It is statistically proven to be beneficial in 99 percent of cases [when the pin is in],” he once said. “Anything outside of 10 feet I'll leave it in. If I accidentally hit it three feet instead of two feet past the flag, it will stay in the cup. It has a better chance of staying in the cup than staying out.”

So what is the 2020 US Open cooking now? What does he say about the invisible drills that he says can make you “unstoppable” when it comes to your ability to hit the ball. See below to see how it works.

Try this drill by Bryson DeChambeau to feel the center of the clubface

In the video above (courtesy of LIV Golf's YouTube channel), DeChambeau goes through an oddly unsightly route that's not for the faint of heart. So if you are someone who constantly worries about the outcome of every shot on the range, it may not be for you.

However, if you're willing to think outside the box and work to feel how the club is in place, DeChambeau says this unique drill is worth a try.

“The most useful exercise in learning where the club is – and this may sound crazy – is the fact that you need to learn to hit the golf ball with your eyes closed,” DeChambeau said.

Wild? Obviously, yes. But he goes on to explain why this unsightly exercise can be effective, and how to practice it – starting with making sure you're in a “safe place,” where you won't hit someone else. .

“The most important thing you can do is learn where the center of that club is every time you close your eyes,” DeChambeau said. “If you can do that, you're on your way to being the best in the world. This is the best in the world it can be do. They can literally close their eyes, hit the ball and know where it is off the face with their putt.”

Granted, DeChambeau says this is practice is something a bit extreme – but worth it if you're serious about improving your golf swing.

“It's disturbing, but what else is new about me?” he joked.

Next, DeChambeau shows off the drill, blindfolds and fires a bomb at his driver, until he calls his shot, saying it goes down the middle. (While the camera didn't go through the effect, the sound of the ball in the face sounded very innocent.)

“You really have to be, on the inside, to hear everything,” DeChambeau said. “You have to feel where the club is and try to hit that golf ball, and get really good at hitting it in the middle of the face with a square face angle with your eyes closed.”

The whole point of these non-visual exercises is to give yourself a better understanding of repetitive movements. If you know where your clubface is in the hole with your eyes closed as it comes through impact, you should be able to replicate that when they are open.

However, DeChambeau doubles down on the difficulty of this exercise, and explains why it will be “torturous” for you as you try – but why it will all be worth it in the end.

“It's one of the hardest things you can do to yourself, because it's physical abuse,” said DeChambeau. “But if you can get comfortable with knowing where the club is in the space, and making the right move every time – what you feel with the handle and making sure you're doing it the right way every time – you're on your way to being there. let's not get caught up in the game.”
